After witnessing the events of 9/11 from his window, Roland withdraws into his apartment and himself, imagining an outside world ravaged by a Martian attack. He won't set foot past his door, instead spending his time reading and researching ways to defeat them. His younger sister tries to bring him back, stopping by every week to bring him food, but as weeks turn into months, will she be able to save him from himself before there isn't anything left of the brother she knew?
