Synopsis

A young boy moves from Hawaii to suburban California only to find that his love for the sacred rites of hula doesn't transfer quite as easily. As Kalā struggles to find his way in this new life, he wonders where his old culture fits in—and how he can make both the old and the new fit together. Maybe the answer lies in discovering what's most important in life.

"This is one of Honolulu Theatre for Youth's best productions since The  Matsuyama Mirror (also written by Houston)... The real life traditions...of hula...ring true." - Honolulu Star-Bulletin

Winner of the Hawai'i State Theatre Council's Po'okela Award, First Place Best Original Play, 1996
