Dark Comedy. 25-35 minutes. 6-22 females, 2-18 males (18-30 performers possible). Suitable for high school and older performers, and middle school and older audiences.
The day starts normally enough for Ellen and her classmates at North Valley High; the only thing slightly out of the ordinary is the annual multicultural food fair. But each passing moment brings new and increasingly strange revelations—Sam arrives with grubs as his contribution to the fair; Lynda and Carmen's teacher forces them to wear head-to-toe coverings or be beaten; vigilante mobs attack students for not surrendering their food. By the end of the play, these typical high school students learn, quickly and drastically, that what they take for granted as Americans does not necessarily apply throughout the world.
