Synopsis

A modern painter struggles to capture the essence of the King Street Custom House clash that became immortalized in the historic engravings of Paul Revere. The entire stage is a giant canvas, and actors create tableaux with their bodies in response to her "painting." These pictures animate to show key figures and moments leading up to and following the deadly confrontation between reluctant soldiers and rowdy townsmen. Future President John Adams defends Captain Preston and his men, while the painter explores events from every imaginable perspective until arriving at a final portrait that communicates the immortal themes that inspired a new nation.
